About Us

Hello!

My name is Daniel Brett and I'm a composer of music in a diverse range of styles with an emphasis on exciting and accessible music for audiences of all ages.

In 2005 I was awarded the Christopher Brooks Memorial Prize and my orchestral tone poem 'Aurora' was performed by the Lancashire Sinfonietta, (www.lancs-sinf.com) The award springboarded many other successes including commissions from string orchestras, wind quintets, choirs and many other ensembles, with music selling in places such as Singapore, Panama and Canada. My most recent commission is for the Lancashire Sinfonietta's 2008 education project 'Carnival'. The orchestrated arrangements of the two pieces will be performed by the Lancashire Sinfonietta in March 2008 at an event involving a rap artist, a Bollywood dancer, African percussionists, and 2,000 school children!

Despite my love of concert music I am also a composer of music for media, film and television, and have written music for a range of different projects both from the UK and US. My latest animation scoring assignment 'Mr Haten Bugelperp and the Great Hat Heist'  has had great success at the RTS Student Awards and Bradford Animation Film Festival, and was broadcast on BBC2 in December 2007. Other projects have gone to the Cambridge Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner, Norwich International Animation Festival, and have been broadcast on Sky. Future projects include the action feature film 'Sari's Journey', a documentary and another animation from the same director as 'Mr Haten Bugelperp'.  (Please see www.daniel-brett.co.uk) for more information)

I'm a classically trained singer, pianist and trumpet player and love being involved with music at all levels. I strongly believe that music should be fun, and want to share my love of music with as many people as possible. Hope you enjoy looking around!
